Purlisse Watermelon Aqua Balm & Sheet Mask Review

Created by Jennifer Yen, Purlisse began as a channel for its owner to share the beauty and spirit of her Asian heritage. Rediscovering her grandmother’s beauty secrets, Yen took that knowledge and crafted what is now recognized as a result-driven skincare brand. The watermelon line from Purlisse is meant to keep you feeling healthy and hydrated while leaving your skin with a radiant glow. Watermelon, the ingredient known for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to fight against breakouts and redness, is the star of the line. This set, which is visually vibrant, colorful and deliciously scented is great for those on-the-go individuals who are suffering from dry and dull skin.

Enveloped in a luxurious foiled box, the Watermelon Energizing Aqua Balm is beautiful both inside and out. It’s small size easily allows it to be carried in any sized bag, which makes it an essential item to pack. The aqua balm’s squeeze tube casing allows for easy and fast on-the-go applications. The Watermelon Energizing Sheet Masks (set) come in an equally aesthetic matte box – which features images of watermelon and all the pink that you can handle. Coming with 6 individually wrapped face masks, this product is great for taking with you for a weekend trip.  Although the pink packaging may be intimidating to a few men, those brave enough to not give a damn will stumble upon what might be their next favorite moisturizing products.

Note: Both products should be applied to cleansed skin

Watermelon Energizing Aqua Balm

This Watermelon Energizing Aqua Balm collection is not only beautiful to see but has an unbelievable scent that leaves a light kiss of fragrance. After using the Watermelon Energizing Face Balm, I noticed my skin felt a burst of hydration. This product description mentions that it is meant for oily ~ combination skin and normal ~ even sensitive. The face balm is prepared with powerful ingredients:

  • Watermelon: Full of Vitamins A, B & C along with antioxidants that are fundamental for skin that is healthy and hydrated
  • Aloe Vera: Helps reduce inflammation to soothe irritated skin
  • White Tea: Protects against cellular damage
  • Cucumber: Firms and tightens skin to reveal a more fresh and younger look

The product was easy to apply, lightweight and was quickly absorbed by my skin. My skin felt moisturized with a hint of dewiness. Note that because I do struggle with oily skin, I felt like the moisturizer did add a bit of extra shine, but overall I felt like it helped control my oil. Costing $45 for 1.7oz, I felt that the ratio of product to price was fair when comparing it to other moisturizers I’ve used. Being a man with spontaneous out of the country trips, the Watermelon Energizing Aqua balm will sure be in my traveling bag on my next trip. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to give their face a fresh start and a watermelon scented wakeup call.

Purlisse Watermelon Aqua Balm & Sheet Mask

Watermelon Energizing Sheet Mask

Packed with watermelon, aloe vera and cucumber, the Watermelon Energizing Sheet Mask packs a blast of hydration for parched skin. Coming in a box of 6 for $36, or individually sold for $8, the natural fiber mask is meant to revive your skin with its super absorbent formula.

The application of the mask was no different compared to others I’ve used. I struggled to peel it open, wondered which side of the mask was the side to apply on my face – and then just called it quits and stuck whatever side I felt like it on.

After peeling the mask off of my face (15-20 minutes later) not only was I left to indulge in a watermelon scented moment, but I skin is also felt dewy and radiant. The mask instructs you not to rinse and simply massage the rest of the formula into your skin. Even though my skin felt tackier than normal after doing so, it felt quenched, soothed and rejuvenized. Compared to the balm the Watermelon Energizing Sheet Mask left my skin more way more hydrated and resulted in my skin feeling a lot stickier. That leaves me to recommend this mask to those with severely dry skin, and those looking to refresh their complexion. The price is fair when compared to other sheet masks. The brand recommends that the product be used 1 to 2 times a week, leaving you with 3 weeks of hydrating treatment when purchased in the 6 pack. Purlisse gives a few fun hacks for the versatile mask: refrigerate a (sealed) mask and use cold to reinvigorate your complexion or steep a (sealed) mask in hot water and apply warm for a relaxing experience.

Bottom line, with fall and winter skin fast approaching it’ll be a good idea to try these products now.
